Michael Harris stars as Dr. Daniel Cassian, a politically connected scientist overseeing an elite bio-crisis team brought together to battle modern day plagues, in The Burning Zone.
Born in Hollywood, CA, Harris became interested in acting when college drama teachers encouraged his talent. He attended Los Angeles City College, Carnegie Mellon University and the American Conservatory Theatre to study the craft.
Recently, Harris has been seen in a wide range of guest-starring roles, landing on some of television's top series. He had memorable turns as a social worker dealing with abandoned children on ER, and as a boring cello date for Cybill, with other stints including Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, China Beach, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Diagnosis Murder, L.A. Law and Tales from the Crypt.
His film credits include He Said, She Said with Kevin Bacon, The Pickle, Blood Lines, The Horseplayer (for which he received the 1990 Best Actor Award at the Taormina Cinema Festival in Taormina, Sicily) and the Academy Award-winning live-action short Session Man. He will next be seen in Santa Fe.
On stage, Harris has appeared in Los Angeles productions of Furthest from the Sun, The Rhythm of Torn Stars, Therese Raquin, A Christmas Carol, The Tooth of Crime, New York presentations of The Manson Family, Dark Lady of the Sonnets, Cowboy Mouth and the La Jolla Playhouse production of In the Woods, The Swan, Marisol and Three Sisters.
He lives in Topanga, California with his wife Shannon Parnell. He runs Topanga Pictures and has co-written the film Technical Writer. Shannon runs her own business Noco. Media Inc
